Terms
Terms of use
The agreement between you and Mandrill Software GmbH about using GeoQuestly — written from what the product actually does.
Version 1.2 · 21 October 2026
Who this agreement is with
GeoQuestly is operated by Mandrill Software GmbH, a company entered in the commercial register in Basel, Switzerland. These terms are the agreement between you and Mandrill Software GmbH about using the GeoQuestly app and this website.
By creating a GeoQuestly account you accept them. If you do not, do not create one — and if you already have one, you can delete it at any time and at no cost.
The company’s full details, including its postal address, its UID and its commercial register entry, are in the legal notice.
Who may use GeoQuestly
GeoQuestly has a minimum age of 16. You may create and hold an account only if you are at least 16 years old, and by creating one you confirm that you are.
If we learn that an account is held by somebody younger, we will close it. If you are a parent or a guardian and believe your child holds one, write to us and we will deal with it.
This minimum is our own condition for entering into this agreement, and it is not the same thing as an app store age rating. A store rating describes what is in an app, for the store’s own audience guidance; this says who may have an account.
Your account
Using GeoQuestly requires an account. Signing in runs through Microsoft Entra External ID, so your password is handled there and never reaches us.
An account is yours personally. What we ask of you:
- keep your sign-in details to yourself, and do not let anybody else use your account,
- choose a display name and a handle that are yours to use — do not pass yourself off as somebody else,
- keep your profile accurate enough that the people you connect with know who they are talking to,
- tell us if you think somebody else has got into your account.
Creating a further account in order to get around a restriction placed on an existing one is a breach of these terms.
Using GeoQuestly is free of charge. The one thing that can be bought is Credits for some paid features, in the app, through Apple’s App Store or Google Play — the Credits section below says how that works. Nothing is sold through this website.
What GeoQuestly is
GeoQuestly is a map-first social app for iOS and Android that also runs in the browser as a web app. It brings the people, groups, events and places around you onto one map.
What it does today:
- a map of what is near you, with optional layers you switch on yourself,
- friends and following, and groups with members, moderators and administrators,
- events, which can be public or joined by invitation or with a join secret,
- posts and chats, including group chats, with pictures and other media,
- optional location sharing, and arrival and departure alerts worked out from it,
- AI features for every person with an account: drafting groups and events, asking in a group chat, editing a group with AI and having pictures drawn,
- Credits for some paid features, which can be bought in the app through the App Store or Google Play.
GeoQuestly is under active development. Features change, arrive and are withdrawn, and nothing on this website or in the app is a promise that a particular feature will exist in a particular form at a particular time.
GeoQuestly is not an emergency service, a safety-monitoring service or a way of supervising another person, and must not be relied on as one. If somebody is in danger, call the emergency services.
Location sharing
Location sharing is off until you switch it on. Nothing about where you are is shared before that.
When you switch it on you decide for how long, who can see you, and how precisely — from your exact position, through an area you are somewhere inside, to nothing at all. You can change any of that, or stop entirely, at any moment.
Following somebody is not permission to see where they are. Being able to see a person’s position is a decision that person made about you, and nothing else in the product grants it.
Precision is a limit rather than a hint: a recipient never sees you more precisely than you allowed. Working around that limit, or asking somebody to lower it for you, is a breach of these terms. So is all of this:
- using somebody’s shared position to follow, watch, wait for or turn up on them against their wishes,
- passing a position you were shown on to somebody it was not shared with,
- using arrival and departure alerts to build a record of another person’s movements,
- presenting GeoQuestly to anybody as a way of checking up on them, or making sharing a condition of something else.
An arrival alert says that a device reported reaching a place. It does not say that somebody is safe, that they are still there, or that the person holding the phone is the person you think it is.
Misuse of the location features is the breach these terms take most seriously, and the one most likely to end in an account being closed.
What you post
What you write, photograph and upload stays yours. We do not claim ownership of it and we do not acquire any.
To run the service we need your permission to handle it. By posting something you give Mandrill Software GmbH the right to store it, process it and show it to the people you posted it for, and to make the technical copies, formats and thumbnails that delivering it requires. That permission is limited to operating GeoQuestly, it is not exclusive, and it carries no right to sell your content, license it to anybody else, or use it to advertise.
The permission lasts as long as the content does, and ends item by item as content goes. Deleting your account ends it for everything that deletion removes — but what you wrote into other people’s conversations and records stays, shown as written by a deleted user, and for that content the permission continues for exactly as long as we keep showing it and for no other purpose. The account deletion page lists what stays.
- you must have the right to post what you post, including pictures of other people,
- do not post anything unlawful, or anything that infringes somebody else’s copyright, trade mark or privacy,
- remember that a group chat, a public event or a public post reaches everybody it is visible to, not only the person you had in mind,
- a place you attach to a post or a message is part of what you posted, and is visible to whoever the post is.
We may remove content that breaches these terms or the law, and may do so without notice where leaving it up would cause harm.
There is no report button in the app yet. If you find something that should not be there, write to info@mandrill.software and tell us where to find it.
How to behave
GeoQuestly has real people and real places in it. The rules are short, and they are the ones this product actually needs.
Do not:
- harass, threaten, intimidate or stalk anybody — in the app, or using something you learned from it,
- impersonate another person, or claim a role in a group or an event that is not yours,
- post unlawful or hateful content, or any sexual content involving a minor, which we will report to the authorities,
- use GeoQuestly to watch, follow or gather information about a person without their knowledge,
- send bulk, repetitive or unsolicited messages, or use the product to advertise,
- try to reach data, accounts, groups or events you are not entitled to see,
- probe, scan, overload or interfere with the service, or work around its security, privacy or access controls,
- extract data from GeoQuestly automatically or at scale, or by any means other than using the app as it is meant to be used — except through the connection to an AI app that GeoQuestly itself offers.
Security research is welcome; getting into other people’s accounts is not. If you find a weakness, tell us at info@mandrill.software before you tell anybody else, and do not use a real person’s data to demonstrate it.
These rules also cover what you do outside GeoQuestly with what you found inside it.
Groups and events
A group has members, moderators and administrators; an event has an owner. Whoever creates or runs one decides what it is, who is in it, and what happens at it.
That responsibility is theirs and not ours. GeoQuestly does not check that an event is real, safe, lawful or suitable, or that the people at it are who they say they are, and it does not organise, host or supervise anything that happens away from the screen.
Going somewhere you found in GeoQuestly, meeting somebody through it or taking part in an event is your own decision, and it deserves the same care as any other invitation from somebody you do not know well.
The AI features
GeoQuestly offers AI features that every person with an account can use: a drafting assistant that drafts a group or a set of events from a short brief and, if one is attached, a document; answers in a group chat; proposed changes to a group for its admins and moderators; and pictures drawn from a description. What any of them returns is a proposal.
It can be wrong. Names, dates, descriptions and places may be incomplete, out of date or invented, and although the places it proposes are checked against map data before anybody sees them, that check is not a guarantee that a place exists, is open, or is what the draft says it is.
The AI never publishes anything by itself. A draft is saved by a person, in the ordinary editor, and a proposal is applied by an admin or moderator of the group, each after they have read it — and that person is responsible for what they save, exactly as if they had typed it.
Credits and purchases
Some GeoQuestly features are paid for in Credits — the assistant is the first. Credits are GeoQuestly’s own units. They are not money: they have no cash value, cannot be transferred to another account or person, cannot be exchanged for anything outside GeoQuestly, and are not paid out — not on request and not when an account is deleted. Credits you bought do not expire.
Credits can be bought in the app, in packages, through Apple’s App Store on an iPhone or iPad or through Google Play on an Android device. The payment is a contract with the store, under its terms; the price is the one the store shows you for your country. GeoQuestly sells nothing outside the two stores and never asks you for payment details.
A purchase is delivered when GeoQuestly’s servers have confirmed it with the store, not when the store’s screen closes. Ordinarily that is immediate. If the app is closed, loses its connection or crashes in between, the purchase is not lost: the Credits are added the next time the app starts, or you can open the Credits page to complete it.
What you can rely on, and what we ask of you:
- a purchase is credited exactly once — never twice, however often the app asks — and to the account that made it; it cannot be moved to another GeoQuestly account,
- we may change which packages are offered, add or withdraw a package, and change its price for future purchases at any time; a package you already bought is delivered as it was described when you bought it,
- we may pause new purchases at any time, for example while a problem is being looked into; a purchase already made is still delivered, recovered or refunded,
- refunds are handled by the store you bought from, under its refund policy — GeoQuestly cannot refund a store purchase itself,
- if the store refunds or revokes a purchase, all of the Credits it granted — or, for a partial refund, the corresponding portion, according to the store’s verified refund decision — are taken back, even if you have already used some of them; if the store later reverses that refund, the Credits taken back for it are restored.
That last point can leave a balance below zero. A negative balance is a balance in Credits, not money you owe us: it means paid features stay unavailable until it is positive again. Using Credits and then asking the store to refund the purchase is, put simply, not a way to get paid features for free.
Credits are a feature of your account and end with it. If your account is closed or deleted, remaining Credits are lost and are not refunded or paid out, unless the law gives you a right we cannot exclude.
Nothing in this section takes away a right you have as a consumer that the law does not allow you to give up — including any right of withdrawal or refund the store’s terms or the law give you for a purchase.
Other people’s services
Parts of GeoQuestly come from services other organisations run: map tiles, address search, routing, the GIF picker, the notification services on your phone, the provider behind the assistant, and the app stores you buy Credits through. Those organisations are independent of us, and their own terms govern what they do. GeoQuestly is not responsible for what an AI app you connect to your account, or its provider, does with what it reads.
Which service is involved in what, and what reaches whom, is set out in the privacy statement rather than repeated here.
Availability and changes
We would rather GeoQuestly worked than not, and we try to keep it running. We do not promise that it will be available without interruption, that it will be free of errors, or that any particular feature will keep working the way it does today.
We may change, add or withdraw features, and we may stop offering the service. Where a change would materially affect you — losing something you had, or a change to these terms — we will say so in the app rather than leave it to be discovered.
If something goes wrong
We would rather talk to you than close your account. Where a problem can be fixed by removing a post or asking somebody to stop, that is what we will do.
We may restrict or close an account where:
- these terms are broken seriously or repeatedly — the location and conduct rules above in particular,
- leaving it open would put another person, the service or us at risk,
- the law, or a competent authority, requires it.
The measure will be proportionate to what happened, and we will tell you what we did unless the law stops us. If you think we got it wrong, write to us and we will look again.
Closing an account does not by itself delete the data belonging to it. If you want it deleted, ask us — the account deletion page says how.
Ending the agreement
You can stop using GeoQuestly whenever you like. Deactivating your account is reversible; deleting it is not.
You can delete your account from inside the app under "Account", or by writing to us if you no longer have it installed. The account deletion page explains both, what to send, and what happens next.
Deleting your account removes your GeoQuestly data and your GeoQuestly sign-in account. It does not delete an account you may hold with a provider you used to sign in — that account is not ours. What deletion does and does not reach is set out on the deletion page and in the privacy statement.
What belongs to us
GeoQuestly — the app, the API, this website, the name, the logo, the map visual language and everything we wrote and drew — belongs to Mandrill Software GmbH. Using the service transfers none of it to you, and nothing in these terms is a licence to copy, adapt or redistribute it.
Map data, tiles and other material from other organisations belong to them and carry their own licences; the attributions shown on the map name them.
Liability
We are liable without limit for damage we cause intentionally or through gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing takes away a right you have as a consumer that the law does not allow you to give up.
Beyond that, and so far as the law permits, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for loss of data you did not keep a copy of, or for what other people do — including what somebody does with a position you shared with them, and what happens at an event somebody else organised.
GeoQuestly is provided as it is, and free of charge apart from Credits you choose to buy. That does not remove the responsibilities above; it is the context the rest of this section is read in.
Which law applies
Swiss law applies to this agreement, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.
If you use GeoQuestly as a consumer and live in a country whose law gives you protections that cannot be taken away by agreement, you keep them. The choice of Swiss law above does not deprive you of any of them.
The place of jurisdiction is Basel, Switzerland. A consumer may also bring proceedings before the court that the law of their own place of residence makes available to them, and we may bring proceedings against a consumer only there.
Changes to these terms
These terms carry a version and a date, and the version on this page is the one that applies.
If we change them materially we will say so in the app before the change takes effect. Continuing to use GeoQuestly after that means the new version applies; if you would rather it did not, delete your account, which is always available and never costs anything.
